Nintendo Wii - More Then Just A Console!
Published by Gary Levy in Computer Games, 1 month 3 weeks 14 hours 2 minutes 4 seconds ago
You might own one, if you don't then you are one of few that have not been sucked into the craze that is the Nintendo Wii. Why is it doing so well in the games console market and why is it threatening the BIG guns aka Microsoft and Sony!
The Nintendo Wii was released around the same time as the Playstation 3. The Xbox 360 was already settled by this time and had a different type of gamer. Though the Nintendo Wii was aimed not only at the average gamer but also at a new breed of gamer.
The Wii works on a motion sensor, it's controllers work like light sabers but without glowing light like in the star wars movies.
Instead you wave your control around in front of the TV screen which moves your little buddy around, (Depending on what game you play) which is the new approach that Nintendo have taken. No longer are you using the old style of play, where you plug in your joy pad and bash away at your buttons to get the top score. Nope, the Nintendo Wii makes you interact with the game and makes the gamer more active!
For example, one of the games that comes with the basic package of the Nintendo Wii is Wii Sports. This game will have you playing tennis, boxing, bowling and even baseball!
This is one of the biggest reasons why Nintendo has become a hit, its not all about fancy graphics it's about becoming more active with the game and having fun!
If you want a more family fun console then the Nintendo Wii is the number one choice to go for. It's catering for all gamers, it's still got some pretty hard core games like Resident Evil and co and has your old classics such as Mario Kart. The Nintendo Wii within the last 2 years has shocked most gaming experts, most believed that Sony and Microsoft were going to storm the gaming scene and leave no room for a 3rd console. Lucky for us this never happened and Nintendo have shown why they have been going so strongly within the last decade.
Nintendo have many plans for the Wii, releasing the Wii Fit a fitness board which is not only fun for all the family but is also a great way of keeping fit and trim. You can see that Nintendo are moving towards pushing kids to a more active roll helping the future generation in a very positive way.
While the Xbox 360 and Sony fight over who has the better graphics, Nintendo have sneakily taken the advantage by convincing people that graphics are not that most important aspect to enjoying a game. Which is so true in many ways, remember your old classics? I bet you would still enjoy playing games such as Mario, Star Fox, the old Resident Evil series etc...
It does seem that most next generation gaming consoles do try and push games that have fancy graphics and advance AI. For me the more real the game is the less fun it has been, I miss fun and addictive gaming which focuses on the user and not a glorified Look how great I look! game which in the end might not have the game play we require. If you don't own a Wii then I'm sure you will soon enough, Christmas of 2008 looks like it will be another sell out of all Nintendo Wii's so don't wait too long! My advise would to get in quick before the rush starts, with the introduction of the Wii FIT and other new soon to be released ideas from Nintendo I'm sure the Wii will be a very much wanted gift this year.
