We know that when summer is over, it is about the right time to go into back-to-school shopping and be prepared for that busy and hurry world. Although sending of the kids to school has its own advantage of having peace at home once in a while. As much as this is true, it is also a fact that we need to help our kids have a successful schooling and your kids will have a better school year than what you had the other year.
1. Do not let your kids skip breakfast not only on the first day of school but everyday when they are going. Let it always be a good breakfast. Do not let the busy days get the best of you by letting your child suffer because you have not prepared enough. Remember always that having a good breakfast is enough to last you through the day. Without it you would not have any energy and believe me you don't want this to happen to your kids.
2. Wake the kids up early to keep them from tardiness at school. Days without school can take its toll by letting them oversleep and in order to have a successful school year you need to teach them the importance of being prompt.
3. You need to make sure they get enough sleep at night. If this means less TV and be stricter about lights off rule then, so be it but always make sure that you lovingly make them understand just exactly why you are doing this. They need to understand otherwise both you and your kids would be frustrated and this is not a good situation to start with. 4. Let them prepare all the things they need the night before to avoid forgetting what should be brought to school the next morning. This would include their uniforms, shoes, socks, backpacks, notebooks, homework and projects. You need to let them know the details on what they should bring.
5. Teach them how to be organized and be responsible of their things. This is in order for them to find easily what they are looking for or exactly what they need. And also to ensure that nothing gets lost.
6. Do not forget to praise your kids for something they have done at school. They don't need to be excellent to be praised. Their effort would be more than enough. You need to make sure you encourage them to develop what they need to develop and improve everything that needs improvement. Always reinforce them and work as close as possible with them. Make yourself available in any case that they need you.
7. Make a study reminder and daily routine for your kids. A good way would be to let them do their homework just after dinner or any time that suits both you and them just fine. You need to discuss and have a deal with them before you can actually come up with something viable. 8. Check their homework with them present by your side. Go over any mistakes they have made and discuss with them thoroughly the correct solution and answers to specific problems. Don't let them be and most importantly do not correct the wrong answers quickly. Have them think and let them use their built-in intelligence. This way you are promoting good learning.
9. Always double check their backpacks for any missing items. True you have let them prepare it but it is your duty and responsibility to make sure nothing gets left behind or that nothing is missing.
10. Always make sure you promote a healthy lifestyle for your kids. This would entirely mean let them eat healthy food and snacks.
Those are just a few reminders during the back to school season. In order for this school year to be successful or perhaps better than the other year, you need to work more closely with your kids from here on out.
