An Effective Learning Habit

If you consider yourself to be a slow learner, why don't you take a new or different learning habit? You can switch to one that will really improve your learning skills. It may seem hard in the beginning, but as what they all used to say 'a thousand repetitions make skills', so all you have to do is find a new learning practice, then keep doing it. Never get tired of doing it over and over again. There will come a time where you will just realize that learning already became part of your system that you cannot even pass a day without having to read at least a page or two of a book.
Now, you are asking how to get rid of your old study habit. Well, I suggest you formulate your own one. What is important is that is fits you and improves your mind. For example, if you are used to watching the television for three hours a day, lessen it.
When you are reviewing for exams, remember to stay in focus. Abolish any inhibition that you are having in your mind. If you are being exhausted, get a five minute break. Then resume with your reviewing. Avoid sleeping late, you have to maintain at least 6 to 8 hours of sleep every night to keep your body and mind healthy. Stop smoking if you are. This will only do you no good, but a much bigger problem. Try using some brain supplements to improve your memory, but I suggest you only take some during examination weeks to avoid making you dependent to the medicine.
Have a regular exercise, because a way to achieve a healthy mind is by having a healthy body. If you are into eating junk foods, I suggest quit it now. It does not give your brain any nutrients to make it healthy. Read books that are insightful, stop reading nonsensical stuffs. Clean your room, it also helps if you are in an ambiance that is soothing. Helps you to think well. Avoid cramming; you can only get mixed ideas of the things that you have to study. Also, do not push yourself too hard, if you are having a hard time concentrating; try doing some recreational stuff to relieve the stress that you are undergoing. If you do not feel like studying alone, have some classmate to study with you, it can also be fun if you are reviewing with others. That person also can give you feedback on the areas that you do not do well. You can also do that to that person.
This study habit that you have will not be effective if you are not really serious about it. I mean, be dedicated in learning things, but not to the point that you turn out to be some geek. You will find out that learning really can be fun and that it is not hard to learn. I once read that 'the only thing that makes a thing boring is your perception towards that thing.'
